SUSAN HIGHSMITH: STORIES FROM THE PAST INTO THE PRESENT

Stories play an integral part in the creation of each piece of Susan Highsmith’s jewellery. The past is present in each design, from the architectural elements of historical buildings to songs that stir the soul long after they have fallen out of our cultural lexicon. In fact, Susan’s passion for art and architecture runs in her blood; her father’s cousin was Richard Nickel, the famed Chicago-based historical preservationist and architectural photographer. Today, his work remains a treasured source of inspiration for Susan. Drawing upon Susan Highsmith’s inspiration I defined a visual identity through a new logo design, font and colour palette. From there, I built a custom e-commerce website to reflect the brand’s new direction with the key message “An ode to” to tie her jewellery designs and brand stories together.
